B-inspired Training & Consultants LTD hosted our first ever conference at the Bolholt Hotel in Bury on the 26th of September. The conference title was ‘Using PBS & Trauma Informed Approaches to Reduce Restrictive Interventions for People with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism’. We managed to secure a range of clinicians who are highly specialised in complex trauma therapy and approaches. We were also able to secure ‘experts by experience’, which enabled us to provide well informed workshops from the perspective of people who have and/or may use support services.
The conference was extremely well attended, with delegates attending from many areas of the UK. The whole event was incredibly moving, with very powerful case studies, showcasing the benefits of providing ‘Trauma Informed Care’ alongside Positive Behaviour Support.
Feedback received by delegates and speakers throughout the day, was that the event had been an overwhelming success. Many delegates shared that this would positively change their practice and reshape service delivery.
Subsequent to the conference, we have received amazingly positive feedback from delegates. Our own reflections of the event were that everyone appeared to thoroughly enjoy themselves, with great opportunities to network and share good practice. We felt that the delegates gained enhanced insight to ‘Trauma Informed Approaches’ and how these could be implemented into service delivery.
Following the conference, in the evening we hosted our belated 10th Anniversary party, with DJ, Karaoke, casino tables, and photo booth. Guests were provided with free complimentary drinks on arrival and with a lovely hot buffet. It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces, who have supported us throughout our journey and to welcome some new faces who joined in and enjoyed the party. The event was a tremendous success, with much eating, drinking, dancing and singing. The atmosphere was amazing, thanks to everyone in attendance.
We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and learned loads along the way. We would like to say a great big thank you to everyone who attended, including delegates, key note and workshop presenters and also to the hotel staff, who were so friendly, welcoming and supportive throughout.
We look forward to seeing you all again at our next big event, hopefully in the not-too-distant future!
